In conjunction with the continuation of its campaign “50,000 Lives” in favor of treating patients in need around the world, Qatar Charity continues to implement the emergency health assistance project for patients with limited incomes. The medical intervention recently included performing several cardiac catheterizations and correcting congenital defects in children in the heart, in addition to treating cancer patients. Since the beginning of the project in 2022, 89 heart surgeries, 28 general surgeries, 11 orthopedic surgeries, 10 kidney surgeries, and 3 cancer patients have been performed. 14 medical devices have been provided, as the project has sponsored 164 patients. Qatar Charity’s intervention in the medical field in Yemen comes at a time when health institutions are suffering from several challenges due to a shortage of staff, lack of energy and necessary funding, in addition to the lack of necessary medicines and medical equipment. The joy of the beneficiaries The beneficiaries expressed their happiness with the health services provided by Qatar Charity after a long wait and long suffering with the disease. The father of the child, Alia, who has been suffering from a tumor in the chest for two years, says: “I could not provide any money to treat my daughter, whose condition was getting worse day by day. Afrah Al-Thulaya is a woman who suffers from heart disease for seven years and was asked to undergo surgery, but due to her difficult financial conditions, she stopped treatment and said: “I endured the disease and pain for a long time, and I was very happy to provide me with treatment from Qatar Charity, which brought me out of the despair that surrounded me, so may God reward you Good people in Qatar, because you were the reason for saving my life and alleviating my suffering from the disease. It is worth noting that, within the framework of Qatar Charity’s interest in the health field, and in affirmation of its role in supporting health facilities, it has presented a number of health projects in order to ensure the provision of health services in densely populated areas with displaced persons and the host community suffering from poverty. Among these projects is the distribution of medicines and medical supplies in cooperation with OCHA in each of Hajjah and Al-Hodeidah governorates benefited 21,000 displaced people and the host community. It is noteworthy that, as part of the continuation of the “Ramadan Impact” campaign, Qatar Charity launched last Thursday a campaign entitled (50,000 lives) with the aim of treating 50,000 needy patients around the world, at a total cost estimated at 17 million riyals, and it will continue until Thursday, corresponding to April 6, 2023.
