Believers cut off a woman’s head for the soul of a deceased brother

April 7, 2023

Five men have been arrested in India for committing human sacrifice and beheading a woman four years ago. This is reported by the Hindustan Times.

Men killed Shanti Sho, 64, by chopping off her head with a machete near the Kamakhya temple in the city of Guwahati, Assam. Investigators are sure the gang leader did something to soothe the soul of his late brother, an ascetic yogi who died 11 years ago.

Sho arrived for a religious holiday in July 2019. The killer along with accomplices lured her to several rituals on the night of July 18-19. When the last of them walked, the woman was laid on the ground and beheaded. Then the head was wrapped in a bag and thrown into the Brahmaputra River. Five people were involved in the murder and 11 in the rituals before him. Details were reported by Lenta.ru.

They were able to establish the identity of the deceased by the remains of clothing, tattoos and a few other signs. The organizer of the murder was arrested on March 25. He said that he paid each of the participants in the bloody ritual 10 thousand rupees (9.8 thousand rubles). Police are now looking for other suspects.
