Dr. Masoud Jarallah Al-Marri, Director of the Food Security Department at the Ministry of Municipality, confirmed that awarding him the Medal of Agricultural Merit with the rank of Knight by the French Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty has a moral dimension in encouraging more giving, and he said in exclusive statements to Qatari media: This merit is a great moral appreciation. It raises the spirit to provide more in the field of agriculture in Qatar, and to document the bonds of historical friendship between the Republic of France and the State of Qatar, in addition to that it opens a greater scope for benefiting from French expertise, especially since agriculture in France is considered one of the pillars of the local economy, and therefore the French have accumulated experiences in the field of agriculture. It can lead to an increase in agricultural development in the State of Qatar and open areas for greater cooperation. Regarding the importance of this merit in enhancing bilateral cooperation in the field of food security, he said: There is no doubt that food security has a major role from the agricultural side, and in order to achieve the requirements of food security, it is necessary to benefit from the expertise and technologies in developed countries that have a great deal in this aspect. Cooperation and benefiting from French expertise, especially in advanced technologies, will help achieve the national strategy for food security, which defines a type of commodities that we produce in the State of Qatar, especially perishable commodities that cannot be stored. Adding: We know that we have limited water and land, and the environment is harsh, and this requires us to adopt modern technologies that help us to overcome these challenges and produce perishable foods such as vegetables, fresh poultry and fish also through fish farming, especially since we have a good experience with the French side adopting French techniques and expertise in the Aquatic Research Center in Ras Matbakh, and this center has achieved unique achievements at the level of the Gulf countries, as we were able to produce young groupers, and we know the strong demand for this type of fish, in addition to other types that are the fruit of cooperation with the French side, which It enriched the marine environment through the local fish population.
