A shooting took place at a bank in Louisville, Kentucky, killing at least four people and injuring eight. This was announced during a briefing by Louisville Deputy Police Chief Paul Humphrey, transmits CN.

The incident happened on April 10 in the morning local time. Upon arriving at the scene, police engaged in a shootout with the assailant, following which the assailant died instantly, Humphrey said. Two police officers are among the injured, one of whom is in critical condition.

It is not yet known whether the shooter was killed by police or committed suicide, Humphrey said. Police believe the man acted alone, but do not yet have data on his motives. Presumably, the man who opened fire in the bank worked in this institution.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is involved in the investigation. US President Joe Biden has been briefed on the incident, a White House spokesperson told CNN.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has arrived. He said two of his close friends became the shooter’s victims, another victim was taken to hospital with an injury.
