Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

The State Duma officially condemned the repressions against the canonical UOC

A draft statement on Kiev’s repressions against the canonical UOC has been prepared by the State Duma Committee on International Affairs. The document says that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, taking advantage of the unfolding crisis in the country, has set himself the goal of completely cleansing the spiritual sphere from any ties with Russia. The parliamentarians express their support for the Orthodox in Ukraine and, in particular, for the monks and priests of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. They call on the international community to give a principled legal assessment of Kiev’s criminal actions.

“Politicians who seized power in Kiev support the criminal activity of schismatic structures, a number of neo-Nazi officials and organizations to seize Orthodox churches and church property, forcibly liquidate communities, commit pogroms of Orthodox churches and attacks on clergy and parishioners,” the document said.

Deputy of the State Duma, Chairman of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy Sergei Gavrilov called the mobilization of anti-Christian forces to combat canonical Orthodoxy an extremely dangerous phenomenon, which, in his opinion, will reduce the Ukrainian people to an obedient weapon.

“Europe shows active support for the actions of the Ukrainian authorities, which will ultimately lead to the destruction of Christian values not only in Ukraine, but in the entire Old World,” Gavrilov stressed.
“We can see for ourselves what aggressive policy the Kiev authorities have chosen today. Temples are being destroyed, priests are being killed, believers are being persecuted, nerve agents are being sprayed,” said Vyacheslav Makarov, deputy chief of the United Russia faction. in churches. What is happening in Ukraine is evil clean water.

According to him, the MPs will try to draw the attention of the world community to “the cynical violation of morals, honor and conscience, fundamental human rights and freedoms”.

Yaroslav Nilov, deputy head of the LDPR faction, stressed that one cannot satisfy political ambitions by offending the feelings of believers, and perhaps the statement will make someone think. “It is a violation of the rights of believers, a spit in their soul,” he described what is happening in Ukraine.

It is planned to send the document, among others, to the President of the Russian Federation, the Council of the Federation, the government, the Public Chamber, the UN, the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the parliaments of the countries of the world.
