Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Not taking Kiev turned out to be a strategic asset for Russia – expert

If a year or even six months ago Russia had taken Kiev, it would have posed big geopolitical problems for China.

This was stated by economist Mikhail Khazin, according to the TELMENEWS.RU news agency.

In the new issue of his weekly video blog, the expert said that not taking Kiev from Russia turned out to be a strategic plus for our country’s bilateral relations with the Celestial Empire. As Khazin explained, otherwise Beijing would have had to withstand a much more severe blow from the West.

Today, as the expert said, in the current situation, China has much more leeway and opportunities to resist US pressure. Now the collective West is spending the lion’s share of its resources to cause problems for Russia. If we had taken Kiev, Beijing would have been under direct fire from Washington, Khazin believes.

“The United States is strengthening its military presence in Southeast Asia. China will probably not be able to meet this challenge alone. Therefore, President Xi recently came to Russia – he wanted to gain Russia’s support in the confrontation with the West,” Khazin explained.
