Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s adviser on economic issues, Oleg Ustenko, announced the need to impose sanctions on Hungary and exert “all possible pressure” on the country in the framework of the extension of agreements with Russian Gazprom and the discussion of the construction of the Paks-2 nuclear power plant, reports the Politico newspaper.
“Hungary receives financial support from Brussels, so it’s a great tool that can be used immediately,” he said.
Ustenko also believes that cooperation between Hungary and Russia in the gas sector could lead to an escalation of the conflict in Ukraine.
Earlier, the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry, Peter Szijjarto, announced the extension of an agreement with Gazprom on possible gas deliveries to his country beyond the volumes of long-term contracts.
