In Yekaterinburg, the director of a special school was removed from his post after reports appeared in the media and telegrams about cases of physical and sexual abuse of children in the institution. It was reported RIA News And TASS at the Ministry of Education and Youth Policy of the Sverdlovsk region.
The ministry added that it was participating in the investigation.
April 14 local edition of “Vecherniye Vedomosti” writing that the mother of one of the pupils of the closed special school No. 124 in Ekaterinburg addressed the commission of inquiry because of acts of “systematic violence” against children.
According to the students, one of the educators organized “comradeship courts” at school, during which “for bad behavior” the teenagers decided to “feel”, “smell” and “put down”. Children were punished, for example, for “receiving a reprimand, fighting during recess, hearing nothing”, writes Vecherniye Vedomosti. The students chose the type of punishment themselves by voting, the victims told the publication.
According to the inmates, they were forced to sit in a certain position or kneel in a corner or perform oral and anal sex in public. According to Vecherniye Vedomosti, all victims of sexual violence are under 14 years old.
One of the teenagers said portal 66.ru that he ran away from school after being “sentenced to rape”. His mother turned to the UK. According to the child, he witnessed sexual violence against a 12-year-old student. “The teacher said, and the guys do. The professor looks like nothing. But everyone knows what’s going on,” the publication’s source said.
He added that the director of the special school, Natalia Poddubnaya, was aware of what was happening. According to him, the woman discussed and showed the students on her smartphone a video with images of sexual violence against one of the students.
According to 66.ru, on April 12, investigators carried out operational activities at the school, confiscated employees’ phones and interviewed a child victim of violence. The following day, a 15-year-old boy was arrested, allegedly involved in the violence. Another escaped, writes the newspaper. Shot writing that he was put on the wanted list. A criminal case has been opened under the article “Violent acts of a sexual nature against minors”, reports the Telegram channel.
Lawyer Georgy Krasnov, in turn, clarified to Vecherniye Vedomosti that the case was brought against teenagers who participated in the rapes, and not against employees.
Teenagers go to special school No. 124 by court order. The main goal of the school is to provide social, pedagogical, psychological and medical rehabilitation to students, including the correction of their behavior, the institution’s website reports. “The mission of the school is to create educational and re-educational support for a teenager in conflict with the law”, indicates the description of the establishment.
