The Palace of the Republic in Sudan’s capital, Khartoum, was captured by the Rapid Reaction Force (RRF). This is stated in the statement of the paramilitaries.
“The Sudanese Rapid Reaction Forces have taken control of the Palace of the Republic”, RIA Novosti quotes an SBR press release.
The Palace of the Republic is the working residence of the rulers of Sudan. The building is considered the main symbol of power in the country.
Earlier, a representative of the Sudanese capital’s international airport announced the closure of the air port. It was reported that armored vehicles were stationed at the airport.
