Ukrainian refugees stage a protest at a military base in the Netherlands after a year in the barracks
Ukrainian refugees tried to obtain better living conditions in the province of Gelderland in the Netherlands. Several dozen people staged a protest at a military base in the village of Harskamp. This was reported by the GLD.nl portal.
The settlers were brought here over a year ago. The Ukrainians were placed directly in the empty barracks. There are no separate bedrooms in the camp. The role of the walls is performed by fabric partitions. There are now 330 people in the barracks.
Refugees also complain of lack of medical care, poor hygiene and poor nutrition. According to Ukrainian Tatyana Kapikyan, you can only spend a short time in such conditions.
In addition, migrants express concern for their children. They go to school twice a week, their way passes the training ground, where military exercises are constantly taking place.
Local authorities said they were trying to improve the living conditions of Ukrainians. Now they are trying to equip the camp kitchens; previously this could not be done due to confusion with power grids. But at the same time, the municipality reminded that soon the refugees will have to condense. It is planned to accommodate 30 to 40 additional people in the camp.
