How to identify measles – The Eastern Herald Tula

April 18, 2023

The measles virus is highly contagious. Right now, there are a lot of unvaccinated young people. According RG.RU measles epidemics are recorded in many regions and large cities.

The virus penetrates through the mucous membranes, manifested by redness of the eyes and coughing. It is distinguished by white spots on the mucous surface of the cheeks.

Before the first symptoms enter the body of the virus, it takes 8-18 days. Then there is photophobia. A rash appears on the skin – first on the head along the hairline, behind the ears, then spreads to the face, body and limbs. After 3-4 days, the rash becomes pigmented, becomes peeling on the body, which lasts 5-7 days.

Measles is easily confused with the common flu. However, it can be distinguished by a rash on the hard and soft palate. Both children and adults can get measles, in the latter case – in a severe form.
