Duma deputy Nikolai Bortsov dies

Deputy of the State Duma of United Russia and honorary citizen of the Lebedyansky district of the Lipetsk region, Nikolai Bortsov, died at the age of 77. This was reported by the head of the region Igor Artamonov.

“At the age of 77, Deputy of the State Duma, honorary citizen of the Lebedyansky district Nikolay Bortsov died,” Artamonov wrote on his Telegram channel.

During the Soviet era, Bortsov rose from loader at a pulp factory to manager of the Lebedyansky cannery, which he made into the largest juice producer in the 1990s. Artamanov said Bortsov had done a lot for his native region : he had helped build playgrounds and hospitals, supported large families and gifted children.

Bortsov became a State Duma deputy in September 2021 and served as a member of the State Duma Nationalities Committee.

In March, at the age of 71, the former head of the CEC of Russia, Vladimir Churov, died.
