Today, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the killing of Mohamed Al-Gharawi, Assistant Administrative Attaché at the Egyptian Embassy in Sudan. The ministry said, in a statement, that Al-Gharawi was killed while he was on his way from his home to the embassy to follow up on the procedures for evacuating Egyptian citizens from Sudan.
The statement stressed that the Egyptian mission in Sudan will continue to assume its responsibility in following up the tasks of evacuating Egyptian citizens from Sudan and ensuring their safe return to the homeland.
On the other hand, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the number of Egyptian citizens who have been evacuated from Sudan so far has reached 904 since the start of the evacuation plan. Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesman for the ministry, said in a statement today that 134 Egyptians were evacuated from Sudan by air and 334 people by land, in coordination with the Sudanese authorities.
