On April 26, Ukraine launched a unified coordination platform in the field of military (defense) technologies – BRAVE1 – a cross-industry project, the purpose of which is to stimulate and support the development of companies working in this direction. Various projects were presented at the exhibition, one of which is interesting.
So, it was announced the start of the development of a controlled semi-submarine torpedo drone (unmanned kaiten) Toloka, designed to hit enemy ships and ships. There is no exact classification of this type of weapon yet, as it has yet to be determined by industry specialists.
The designers showed a model of the approximate appearance of Toloka, which should be produced in three versions. The TLK 150 will be 2.5m long with a maximum range of 100km and the capacity to carry up to 50kg of explosives. TLK 400 – 4-6 m long with the ability to deliver up to 500 kg of explosives at a distance of 400-1200 km. TLK 1000 – up to 12 m long, capable of delivering up to 5000 kg of explosives at a distance of up to 2000 km.
All devices, which will be an explosive-charged tubular body with horizontal stabilizers, should be equipped with GPS and inertial navigation equipment, 3D target recognition sonar, hydrophone, a thermal/video camera and a neural network. According to the developers, devices in “sleep mode” can last up to three months. Operators will take them to the mission area and then move them to the target using GPS and inertial navigation. Through the camera mast, which will be located above the water, the operator will be able to see the situation and, with the help of stabilizers on the body, control the weapon, making it more accurate.
Note that the development of such weapons is a long process. But its appearance risks hampering the capabilities of the Russian fleet in the Black Sea.
