Qatari athletics increased its medal tally in the West Asian Athletics Championships for men and women (Qatar 2023), by winning five colored medals today, on the third day of the tournament held on the field and track of Suhaim bin Hamad Stadium in Qatar Club, with the participation of 12 countries from the west of the continent, namely: Host Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Sultanate of Oman, Bahrain, Emirates, Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, Yemen and Syria.

Qatari Moaz Ibrahim succeeded in winning the gold medal in the discus throwing competition, recording (61.30m), Kuwaiti Issa Al-Zankawi, recording (59.66m), won the silver medal, and the Jordanian Musab Al-Momani, recording (52.44m). The promising Qatari runner, Saja Issa, boosted her personal tally of medals by winning the silver medal in the 400m hurdles race, with a time of (1:0709 minutes), to add to herself a second medal after winning the 400m race medal earlier in the tournament. Saja finished second behind The runner of Iraqi Kurdistan, Jamal, who won the gold medal with a time of (1:04.87 minutes), while the Emirati filly Taqlia won the bronze medal with a time of (1:07.51 minutes).
