After the train crash.. Russia accuses Ukraine of bombing a border village

October 2, 2025

“In the morning, the Ukrainian armed forces shelled the village of Korkovichi in the Starodubsky district,” Bogomaz said in a post on his Telegram channel.

He added: “There were no casualties. Following the shelling, a fire broke out in one of the houses. All emergency services are present at the site.”

Ukraine has never claimed responsibility for any attacks inside Russia or on Russian-occupied Ukrainian territory.

However, the Ukrainian army announces the activities and movements of forces in the combat zones on a daily basis.

Bogumaz said on Monday that a locomotive and 7 freight cars derailed in Bryansk after an unknown explosive device detonated.

Russian authorities said the region bordering Ukraine and Belarus has witnessed several attacks by pro-Ukrainian sabotage groups since the 14-month-old Russian invasion.

On Saturday, the governor said 4 civilians were killed when a village was shelled on the Ukrainian side of the border.
