The locomotive and wagons of a freight train derailed on the Snezhetskaya-Belyye Berega section in the Bryansk region, the reason was the interference of unauthorized persons in the work of railway transport, reported RBC in Russian Railways. According to preliminary information, there were no casualties and open fires.
“City firefighters are working on the spot, a firefighter and two rescue trains have also been sent. At the moment, traffic on the Snezhetskaya-Belyye Berega section has been suspended,” the company said.
Governor of Bryansk region Alexander Bogomaz reported that an explosive device was detonated in the area of the Snezhetskaya station. The freight train, in which there were about 70 cars, followed from Bryansk to Karachev.
By information Baza, overturned wagons, there was a spill, presumably of sulfur and saltpeter. Now employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations are cooling fallen cars and spilled substances. Among the fallen cars there are also empty cars and cars with scrap metal.
This is the second sabotage of railways in the past two days. On the morning of May 1, an explosion occurred at the 136th kilometer of the Bryansk-Unecha railway line in the Unecha district. As a result, eight cars derailed and no injuries were reported. Traffic on this section of the road has been suspended.
According to Russian Railways, the incident occurred as a result of “illegal interference in the work of railway transport”. According to the Mash telegram channel, the power of the explosive device, according to preliminary estimates, was at least 200 grams of TNT. Also, according to Mash, in the south-west of the Bryansk region, the “Interception” plan was introduced – security forces are looking for two men who took CCTV cameras and may be involved in sabotage.
Early in the morning of May 2, train traffic on the Unecha – Rassukha section resumed. The consequences were eliminated by about 300 railway workers and three recovery trains, about 100 meters of railway track were laid.
Moreover, in the afternoon of May 2, the telegram channel Mash writing that another sabotage on the railroad was prevented in the area. According to the Telegram channel, the explosion was preparing on the 77th km of the Krasny Rog-Pochep section. According to preliminary data, a railway employee, who discovered excavations under the canvas, helped prevent the sabotage. It was supposedly planned to plant an explosive device there. The man called the police and told them what had happened. The place of the failed sabotage was cordoned off, no explosives were found in this area.
Telegram channel Shot with a link to the source informed that the explosions on the railways which occurred on May 1 at 136 km from the Briansk-Unecha line and the sabotage on the evening of May 2 could have been committed by the same people. According to Shot, the approximate distance between the locations of the explosions is about 111 kilometers.
