Our sources have confirmed that gunfire was heard from ground-based anti-aircraft guns belonging to the Rapid Support Forces, in further violation of the recently extended armistice.
On Tuesday morning, the Rapid Support Forces announced that they had shot down a Sudanese army MiG plane, with violence continuing into the third week.
The Rapid Support Forces said in a statement that the military launched raids on “a number of residential areas in Khartoum” and “shot down a (MiG) aircraft”.
The announcement is the first of its kind since the start of the conflict in Sudan on April 15 between the army and the Rapid Support Forces.
Sky News Arabia could not verify the statement from Rapid Support Forces, which did not provide photos of the incident.
