Gopeshwar (Uttarakhand). Police has registered a case and started investigation in connection with the installation of boards accepting donations through QR code in Badrinath and Kedarnath temples without the permission of Shri Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee.
The office bearers of the committee had given a complaint to the police on Sunday and demanded an inquiry into the matter. Taking serious note of the matter, Chamoli Superintendent of Police Pramendra Dobal ordered the SHO of Badrinath to register the case immediately and start its investigation. Dobal said that a case under section 420 of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the unknown at the Badrinath police station on Monday.
Earlier, temple committee chairman Ajendra Ajay had said in a statement that the boards near the temples asking for donations through QR codes were not put up by the committee. He said that these boards were found installed on the day of opening of the doors in both the dhams and were removed on the same day when it came to the notice of the officials of the temple committee.
Ajay said that the officials of the temple committee first investigated the matter at their own level and after that, on Sunday, Kedarnath police station and police station in Badrinath gave a complaint in this regard and demanded an inquiry into the matter.The chairman of the temple committee It also clarified that at present no digital payment app is used by the temple committee in its functioning.
Significantly, the doors of Kedarnath Dham were opened for devotees on April 25 and Badrinath temple on April 27.
