Sunak reveals ‘historic precedent’ at King Charles coronation ceremony

Charles and his wife Camilla will be crowned at Westminster Abbey in London in a dazzling display and ritual dating back nearly a thousand years.

According to Sunak, the celebration which will take place in Westminster, where the kings of England and Great Britain have been crowned since 1066, will for the first time bring together representatives of all religions.

It will be an “extraordinary moment of national pride”, Sunak said, adding in a statement: “No other country can put on such a dazzling spectacle. The processions, celebrations and festivals in the streets.”

“But it’s not just a stage. It’s an expression of pride in our history, our culture and our traditions. A living proof of the modern character of our country and a cherished ritual through which a new era is born,” he added.

“So let’s celebrate this weekend with pride in who we are and what we stand for. Let’s look to the future with hope and optimism. And create new memories so we can tell our grandchildren about the day we got together. gathered to sing… God bless the King.”
