A study conducted by scientists from the American Psychological Association showed that neurotics are more likely to suffer from nightmares.
In the study, the researchers wanted to find out who had more nightmares. They conducted an online survey of 225 people and asked them about bad dreams, how often they had them, and whether any personality traits or strategies were associated with the frequency of their nightmares.
The results showed that people who were more neurotic (more likely to experience negative emotions and get upset easily) were more likely to have nightmares.
People who scored high on openness to experience reported seeing their nightmares at least once a month.
In a related study, participants who scored higher on scales measuring extraversion were also less likely to report having nightmares. Gazeta.ru.
