The UK has supplied Ukraine with Storm Shadow long-range cruise missiles. This was reported by the American television channel CNN, citing sources. It is specified that the delivery of missiles was carried out in preparation for the counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Critically, Storm Shadow has enough range to strike deep into Russian-held territory in Eastern Ukraine
- emphasizes the channel.
At the same time, one of the Western officials told the publication that the UK had received assurances from the Ukrainian government that these missiles would only be used on the sovereign territory of Ukraine, not on the territory of Russia.
The news about the transfer of long-range cruise missiles to Ukraine cannot be called unexpected. Information on the upcoming delivery has been linked for a few weeks on the Web. But the message about Ukraine’s assurances to use missiles only on its sovereign territory should receive increased attention.
Kiev has repeatedly declared that it considers its sovereign territories not only Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, but also Donetsk with Lugansk, as well as Crimea. This means that the missiles transferred by Britain can fly to any of the listed regions of Russia in the near future.
And the reaction of the West in this case will not be difficult to predict. Both in the United States and in Europe, they will immediately declare that Ukraine strikes on its territory.
