Local officials in Italy said a truck carrying oxygen containers exploded on a street in Milan, injuring one person and setting nearby cars and motorcycles on fire.
Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala ruled out that the explosion was caused by foul play and confirmed that the incident did not result in any fatalities.
Sala said the truck driver told firefighters the fire started in his vehicle’s engine.
He added: “He quickly removed the oxygen containers he was carrying…He tried to limit casualties, but the explosion happened.”
He said the driver was slightly injured.
Fire crews were able to quickly extinguish the blaze after it sent up columns of thick black smoke.
Witnesses said the fire apparently spread to a nearby building which was evacuated, and authorities also evacuated a school near the incident.
