During the Eurovision final, held on May 13 in Liverpool, England, won Swedish singer Loreen with the song Tattoo. The singer already won the competition in 2012, when she took first place with the song Euphoria. So, Remarks Reuters, Loreen has become the first woman in Eurovision history to win the contest twice.

Loreen’s Eurovision win was the seventh for Sweden, who now share the title of most successful country in the contest with Ireland. The winner was traditionally determined based on the sum of the points awarded by the jury and received in the public vote. In total, Loreen scored 583 points. Second place was taken by Finnish rapper Käärijä with the song “Cha Cha Cha”: he became the leader of the public vote, but lost on total points (526), considering the vote of the jury. The competition itself was held for the 67th time. This time he was hosted by Britain on behalf of last year’s winning country – Ukraine. Previously, such a decision was taken by the organizers “for security reasons”. As the BBC writes, the final of the competition was opened by the video of the Ukrainian group Kalush Orchestra, which won last year, in which its members sing the song “Stefania” in the Kiev metro, and in Liverpool and in other British cities they are sung by local show business stars. After that, the audience watched a video in which Princess of Wales Kate performs the composition on the piano. Also on stage were Ukraine’s 2016 winner Jamala, Tina Karol, who represented the country in the contest in 2006, and Eurovision-2007 winner Verka Serdyuchka.

From Ukraine, the Tvorchi group from Ternopil participated in this year’s competition (sixth place, scoring 243 points), which, according to Ukrainian telegraph channels, fell victim to rocket fire in the final. A photo of its consequences in his telegram channel was published by the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Andrii Yermak. He wrote that the attack happened “just as Ukrainian band Tvorchi from Ternopil performed in the Eurovision final”. According to him, two people were injured as a result of the bombardment.
