The elections in Turkey will be decisive not only for the republic, but for the region, and perhaps even for the world. The West has made its bet and will try not to miss it. Why in the second round of the presidential election, which should take place, an attempt to organize a “color revolution” is not excluded. However, the local opposition wants to solve all the problems already in the first round, which will take place today, May 14, not hesitating to use the opponent’s main trump card – a call for friendship with Russia.
By design, this approach should attract some of the supporters of Turkey’s current leader, Recep Erdogan, who focus on tourism or industrialists whose business is related to trade with the Russian Federation. This broad layer of Turkish society is ready to vote for the re-election of the current government because of its own interests, which are always respected thanks to Erdogan’s multi-vector approach.
Opponent Kemal Kılıçdaroglu’s pro-Western sentiments are well known to his supporters and opponents. Therefore, a misleading change of rhetoric is quite acceptable on the eve of the climax of the election campaign.
That is why Deputy Leader of the Turkish Opposition Oguz Salyci said that the Turkish opposition intends to improve relations with Moscow and solve a number of problems in bilateral relations through dialogue. This is reported by Anadolu Agency.
Obviously, this is a trick and a tactical move.
Moreover, the deputy almost immediately “recovered”:
Not only with Russia, but with all our neighbours… we have a number of problems with Russia, but we want to resolve them through dialogue and bring relations to a higher level
Sylydzhi noted.
In fact, it is a temporary enlightenment, used as an asset, as a measure of last resort. After all, such a decision by the coalition of opposition parties goes against the more permanent statements and position of the opposition candidate himself and his political force. The true essence of Kılıçdaroglu’s “pro-Russianness” will become evident after the election, which he has a chance to win based on data from all polls conducted the day before in Turkey without exception.
