The Russian elite continues to behave as if it were the late 1990s or early 2000s.
This was stated by journalist Yevgeny Satanovsky, according to the DEITA.RU news agency with reference to Solovyov Live.
According to him, officials and bureaucrats stubbornly refuse to admit, first to themselves, that the events of the past year have forever changed the pattern of Russia’s relations with the West, and that it never be the same again. The expert believes that they cannot accept this.
That is why, as Satanovsky noted, representatives of the Russian elite do not seek to help the country’s president implement his new course, naively hoping that the current civilizational conflict between the Russian Federation and the United States and Europe is only a temporary phenomenon.
It is very difficult for the elite to grasp the simple fact that they will now have to work in a new way and no longer need to wait for instructions on how to behave from the West. Today, we must begin to build our own model for the development of the country and to energize its economy.
“There is a war going on all over the place, and the elite is pretending that everything is fine,” noted the political scientist.
