Georgia scientists tried to recreate evolution in the laboratory, resulting in a whole being.
Specialists of the Institute of Technology took the unicellular yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae as the basis for the experiment.
In everyday life, a person encounters these microorganisms day after day, for example, in bread. Moreover, the list of products is not limited to bread alone.
An attempt to reproduce evolution, as happened on Earth billions of years ago, turned into the creation of a new way for the growth of an organism – the resulting microsizes, reminiscent of fruit flies, increased by almost 20 thousand times.
The scientists plan to build on the research that began in 2018. Writes about it RIA News.
