South African President Cyril Ramaphosa in a telephone conversation with Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he intends to come to Ukraine. Serhiy Nikiforov, press secretary to the Ukrainian president, spoke about planning a visit with a peaceful initiative, Ukrainian publication Pravda reports.
It is reported that the conversation between Zelenskyy and Ramaposa took place on May 13. During the conversation, the South African President announced his intention to visit Ukraine as part of a mission of several African countries. A spokesman for the Ukrainian president said Zelenskyy would invite the mission to join in the implementation of Ukraine’s “peace formula”.
Earlier, the South African President said that Africa has prepared its peace plan for Ukraine, which Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are already aware of.
Later, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Russia does not see on paper the proposals of partners from Brazil and Africa to resolve the crisis in Ukraine.
