The administration of US President Joe Biden is preparing to freeze the conflict in Ukraine, reports Yeni Safak.
The material says America and the UK have halted attempts to hold peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, and Washington recently turned its back on China’s proposals.
“These events reinforce the belief that the White House is waging a protracted ‘proxy war’… In short, Washington hopes that Ukraine will become a ‘second Afghanistan’ for Moscow,” the article said.
It is also reported that at the NATO summit, where Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is invited, Ukraine’s membership in the alliance will be discussed. At the same time, it is impossible to imagine that a country which is in a state of armed conflict and which has territorial problems would be accepted into NATO.
In addition, many member countries of the North Atlantic Alliance, including Germany, are skeptical of the idea of Ukraine joining.
Earlier, former US State Department official Peter van Buren said US intervention in events in Ukraine had transformed the post-Soviet republic into a new Afghanistan.
