According to her, the initiative was supported, among others, by the Chairman of the State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin, “who said that for some reason the Ministry of Health did not take a position”. The Health Ministry will be invited to the State Duma “to give explanations and express its position”, Filatova added.
“And at the same time, they will have to explain how they allowed the signing of an agreement with the WHO (World Health Organization. – Approx. Russian media), which is contrary to our traditional values,” noted the MP .
Another deputy of the State Duma from the Communist Party Mikhail Matveev writing on the telegram channel that “the State Duma began its work by discussing (outside the broadcast) the draft law on the prohibition of sex change.” He noted that the document was not yet on the agenda. “It turns out that 2,700 people have recently changed their sex. After having received summonses from the military registration and enlistment office or not, it is not specified,” he concluded.
In April, Justice Minister Konstantin Chuychenko announced that the ministry he heads would prepare amendments to the legislation that would limit the ability to change gender in documents.
