The thing is that the chips in the form of brain implants will overgrow with connective tissue over time. After two to five years, the chip will have to be removed, and then a new one installed.
“The problem of biocompatibility has not been solved,” say MSU experts, writes Gazeta.ru.
However, the advantages of such a development are harmlessness to other brain functions.
“Probably, it will have to be changed every two to five years, while retraining the brain. But now there is no doubt about the safety of the chip, ”added the MSU.
To date, Elon Musk’s chip is more advanced than other available analogues.
“Also, the Elon Musk implant may allow paralyzed people to fully engage in life,” the experts shared.
