US scientists have failed to explain the long-term effects of the SARS-CoV-2 virus

Scientists from NYU Langone Health said they do not understand why the effects of coronavirus occur in the human body for so long.

According to American researchers, every tenth person who has been ill with Omicron suffers from “long-term COVID”. Results released by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) show that the effects of coronavirus can last for months and even years, and the symptoms of the disease can be very different, more than a dozen have been identified.

So far, science still does not know why the human body cannot cope with “long covid” and how to alleviate the condition of patients during illness.

“No, there is something special about people who get ‘long COVID’ and that’s important to know,” said one of the study’s authors, Dr. Leora Horwitz.

Scientists from the American Medical Association conducted a study in which 8,600 adults who had coronavirus during different periods of the pandemic took part. It turned out that every third patient had “long-term COVID”.

It also found that about 2,230 participants first contracted the infection after the start of the pandemic and were able to report their symptoms in real time, and only about 10% experienced long-term symptoms for half a year. Despite the fact that doctors know the symptoms of the effects of coronavirus, they cannot help in most cases, because science as a whole does not know how humanity can solve this problem, writes “MK” .
