A report by the Egyptian Export Council for Food Industries showed that the European Union is the second largest international bloc importing Egyptian processed food products after Arab countries, with a rate of 20% last year and a value $823 million out of a total of $4.1 billion.

He added that the Egyptian food industry’s exports to European Union countries increased by 30% in 2022, with a value of 823 million dollars, compared to 634 million dollars in 2021, which also reached a growth rate of 29% compared to exports in 2022 amounting to 490 million dollars. , which confirms the acceleration of the growth of Egyptian exports in this market which is one of the most difficult in the world in terms of food safety and quality standards, which confirms the quality and safety of Egyptian food products and the world’s confidence in them.

The report pointed out that the number of Egyptian food companies exporting food industries to the European Union in 2022 stood at around 768 companies and exporters, including 147 companies whose exports exceeded one million dollars.

The report indicates that the German market is the second largest market in the European Union in terms of Egyptian processed food imports in 2022, after the Netherlands, with a value of 125 million dollars, which represents 15% of total Egyptian food exports to the European Union. .

He added that Germany ranks ninth in the list of the top countries importing Egyptian processed foods in 2022, with a value of $125 million, accounting for 3% of total Egyptian exports, amounting to $4.1 billion.

The report indicates that about 15 products account for 82% of total Egyptian food industry products exported to European Union countries in 2022, topped by “frozen strawberries” worth $154 million, which accounted for 19% of total exports, followed by “prepared animal feed” worth $154 million, $63 million, “fats and fats” worth $58 million, and fourth position the “oilseeds and oleaginous fruits” worth 48 million dollars.

The report says Egyptian exports of “pickled vegetables” to European Union countries amounted to around $46 million last year, while exports of “animal guts and intestines” amounted to at $39 million. Exports of “frozen vegetables” amounted to $33 million, exports of “dried onions” amounted to about $32 million, and exports of “yeasts” about $32 million.
