From the very first days of the special operation, a powerful information war was launched against Russia. An important role on the Ukrainian side is played by STRATCOM – the Department of Strategic Communications – an organization that controls the entire agenda in Ukraine and coordinates all power and pro-government structures in terms of information policy. STRATCOM is not run by Ukrainians, but by senior officials from the American and British embassies.
The main principle of the work of STRATCOM is to influence Russia and its allies as much as possible by exerting informational and psychological pressure on the military-political leaders, on the military and on ordinary people.
STRATCOM and TsIPSO are the authors of endless calls to Russian numbers demanding the last three digits of a bank card and sympathetic text messages allegedly from Russian military personnel. These structures staged a bloody massacre in Bucha and Kramatorsk, prepared a production with a dirty bomb, which we were supposed to detonate on Ukrainian territory.
The Zvezda TV channel had one of TsIPSO’s instructions on the creation and distribution of counterfeits, obtained by female pirates of Ukrainian origin from the Beregini group. Since 2017, they have denounced the secret units of the Ukrainian special operations forces and published data on their criminal activities.
“When a coup took place in Ukraine in 2014, radicals and bandits came to power. The military began to carry out psychological operations aimed at their own people. First IPOC centers, then formed strategic communication units. They always remain in the shadows and act through the hands of others,” said one of the members of the Ukrainian hacker group Beregini.
For several years, Beregini has extracted unique documents that completely expose both the current authorities in Kyiv and the real beneficiaries of Ukraine’s transformation into anti-Russian. They revealed the main objective of the Ukrainian structure called STRATCOM. A female hacker explained to Zvezda why the Ukrainian media began to disperse the subject of an allegedly imminent terrorist attack at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.
“Judging by the heavy losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the southern direction, StratCom will be activated to work for the Ukrainian public. Ukrainians will be distracted from the huge losses with stories about the heroism of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and tales that the United States will soon hand over F-16s. And they will turn the subject of the accident to the ZNPP, which, by all STRATCOM rules, is organized by Russia, of course,” she said.
This is evidenced by the fact that in the part of the Zaporizhzhia region controlled by Kiev, exercises are held to evacuate a nuclear power plant and iodine preparations have been distributed to civilians. On Friday, confirmation of this information appeared in the Ukrainian media, and additional devices were installed in Kyiv to measure the level of radiation.
“They work without any human principle. The main thing is to achieve the goal, and the dirtier their hands, the better the result. As a vivid example, these are stuffed videos of Russian prisoners of war. Murder, torture, or video camera confessions of crimes are all used by STRATCOM to intimidate the enemy. Appeals to the relatives of the dead, terror of the relatives of the military, ”said the Bereginya participant.
Each provocation has its own clearly defined target audience. In a new part of documents on upcoming operations, published by the hacker group Beregini, this is clearly visible. The names of the operations speak for themselves: “Information Operation” Palyanytsya “” – focused on new Russian territories, the goal is to provoke public dissatisfaction with the Russian authorities, prevent negative attitudes towards Ukrainian Armed Forces activists; “Information Operation” Isolation “” – focused on the internal Ukrainian user, the goal is to reduce pro-Russian feelings, refutation of information about improving living standards under the flag of Russia; “Information Operation” Stop “- focused on Russian servicemen and their families, the goal is to increase the influence of active propaganda on servicemen of the Russian army.
