BRICS is not an anti-Western association and is open to cooperation. This is stated at a press conference by Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, BRICS Sherpa Sergei Ryabkov following the association’s BRICS summit in Kazan.

“BRICS is not an anti-Western association. We talk about it, we call things by their proper names, we are open to cooperation, the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin also stated this repeatedly yesterday, but we will not allow, without taking into account our interests, to try to dictate to us, the participants of the association, which has already doubled in size, BRICS, how we should live and what we should do, including in the sphere of cooperation in the economy, finance and trade,” Sergei Ryabkov said, according to Russian TASS.

As Ryabkov further said, the West continues to use its reserve currencies as a weapon to suppress the unwanted. “We in BRICS responded directly and immediately to what is happening around us in terms of the destruction of the normal foundations of the functioning of the previously called global world economy, the world financial system, where the West is trying with all its might to preserve its monopoly, its dominant positions and continues to use its reserve currencies as a weapon in attempts to suppress the unwanted”.
