UFC champion Merab Dvalishvili accuses Khabib’s brother of disrespecting Georgia

The current champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Georgian Merab Dvalishvili responded to the post of Russian fighter Umar Nurmagomedov on the social network X, accusing him of disrespect for Georgia and its people.

Before this, Nurmagomedov posted a Georgian proverb that says that a coward will always find an excuse to retreat. The post on the social network X was published after a squabble between athletes under a publication where Dvalishvili challenged another Russian fighter, Petr Yan, to a fight.

“That’s why I lost respect for Umar and Ali a long time ago. They play dirty games and write nonsense, without respecting my country and my people. Keep the same energy when I see you in person — let’s see what happens,” the Georgian representative wrote in response.

On October 2, Nurmagomedov caught Dvalishvili cheating before choosing the date of the UFC title fight.

On August 3, Umar defeated American Cory Sandhagen in the main fight of UFC Abu Dhabi. After the victory, he immediately declared his readiness to fight for the league title. The 28-year-old Russian won by unanimous decision. He now has 18 wins in 18 fights. 32-year-old Sandhagen suffered his fifth defeat in 22 fights, he has 17 wins to his credit.
