The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, spoke on her telegram channel on Sunday about the non-issuance of American visas to Russian journalists accompanying the Russian Foreign Minister to participate in the work of the Security Council of the UN.
The diplomat drew attention to the fact that 40 minutes before the departure of Russian media representatives to New York, the US Embassy answered the question of not issuing visas to journalists on whom they were working .
“The manipulation of the subject of freedom of expression and the rights of journalists is obvious,” Zakharova said of this situation.
Earlier, Lavrov said the United States abused the country’s position – the mistress of the UN headquarters when issuing visas to the Russian delegation to the UN Security Council. The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that not all members of the Russian delegation received visas and that they were not issued to journalists at all. The Minister drew attention to the fact that the American side did not explain in any way the non-issuance of documents.
In April, Russia chairs the UN Security Council. Lavrov on April 24 and 25 is due to attend meetings of the UN Security Council.
