Moldovan Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita announced on Friday that she was leaving her post, which according to the constitution means the resignation of the entire cabinet of ministers.
“After a year and a half as prime minister, it’s time to announce my resignation,” Gavrilitsa told a press briefing, declining to give reasons for his decision.
The Prime Minister’s address was preceded by a meeting in the administration of President Maia Sandu, attended by members of the government and representatives of the Action and Solidarity Party which controls parliament.
Moldovan President Maia Sandu has accepted the government’s resignation.
“Following legal procedures, after the resignation of the prime minister, I will hold consultations with parliamentary factions and then nominate a candidate for of prime minister,” Sandu wrote on his Facebook page.
