Her Excellency Mrs. Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with HE Mr. Volker Türk, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, on the sidelines of the 52nd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva. During the meeting, they reviewed the cooperation relations between the State of Qatar and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, developments in Palestine, and violations against the Palestinian people that violate international humanitarian law. HE the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Qatar’s aspiration for the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights to move seriously in combating the phenomenon of Islamophobia, and to take a clear and frank position on the incidents of burning the Holy Quran in a number of European countries, as a phenomenon that constitutes hate speech. The meeting was attended by HE Dr. Turki bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud, Director of the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Dr. Hind Abdul Rahman Al Muftah, Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office in Geneva.
