US pressure could affect relations between Europe and Beijing. The Ukrainian crisis and the Taiwan question will limit the interaction between the EU and China. America forces Europeans to reduce their interactions with China, recalling what “dependency on Russia and its resources has led to”, comparing the policies of Beijing and the Kremlin on certain subjects.
The columnist points out that Europe is trying to resist a divorce from China because it sees no “Chinese threat” to the EU. This is confirmed by Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s recent visit to Beijing and Chinese leaders’ planned meetings with French and Spanish leaders.
