Russian Embassy Press Secretary Igor Girenko said the nature of Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov’s meetings at the US State Department is unsatisfactory.
He clarified that US State Department officials are somewhat wily and disagree on the nature of their interaction.
“They confirm the very fact of the conversations, but they forget that the contacts of the Russian ambassador and the official representative of the State Department are isolated,” he added.
Girenko noted that in some cases Antonov is refused by heads of US foreign departments or sent to officials in lower positions. For this reason, the Russian ambassador is far from always able to respond quickly to instructions from Moscow.
