Chinese ship completes first deep-sea scientific research mission

The ship returned after completing its first manned deep diving international scientific research mission in the waters around Oceania.

The expedition team conducted the first large-scale, systematic manned deep-sea international survey in the Kermadec Trench area of ​​the southwestern Pacific Ocean.

The team also reached the bottom of two abysses, one of which was the Diamentina Trench in the southeastern Indian Ocean, to obtain samples of organisms, rocks, fossil blocks, sediments and water found in the ocean depths.

Ten local and international organizations participated in that cruise, and during the expedition, the submersible boat “Fundutsche” succeeded in completing 63 diving missions, four of which were more than 10,000 km deep.
