According to the latest data from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Automobile Association, the Philippines produced 8,886 vehicles in January alone, up 60.3% from a year earlier, the fastest growth rate among its member countries. Malaysia also increased by 36.2% year-on-year to 58,527 units, while Thailand increased by 7% year-on-year to 162,327 units. Sales in the ASEAN region as a whole increased by 9.3% year-on-year to 370,899 units. The production volume of motorcycles also increased by 55.4% year-on-year to 123,786 units, the highest in the region. Malaysia also increased by 20% to 50,255 units, while Thailand increased by 9.8% to 159,257 units. (10th, Manila Bulletin)
