According to Morawiecki, the reason is the accumulated “fatigue” of EU members.
“Currently there is much less desire, appetite for new sanctions,” said the Polish Prime Minister.
At the same time, as Morawiecki pointed out, it is Poland that acts as the “director” of the new sanctions packages.
“We report to the European Commission the holes and loopholes that Russia is using to circumvent sanctions, and at the same time we are among those orchestrating new packages,” he said.
However, according to the Polish Prime Minister, “in the coming weeks” the subject of sanctions will return to the EU agenda.
“I have heard that European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is also open to this. I am a cautious optimist that we will be able to convince our partners of the need for the next package,” Morawiecki said. .
He also expressed hope that the eleventh set of sanctions against the Russian Federation would include positions such as, in particular, Russian diamonds and Rosatom.
Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Morawiecki said Germany should support the Kiev regime more actively and supply Ukraine with more weapons.
