Mayor of the Kiev-controlled city of Avdiivka in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Vitaliy Barabash, has urged residents to leave the city. The official said utilities were being evacuated in the village. In the near future, mobile communications will be disabled in the city.

  • A few more days and it will no longer be possible to charge the phone. A few more days and there will be no one left to maintain the generators and mobile towers,” Barabash said.

The Russian army is gradually tightening the encirclement around Avdiivka, according to domestic and foreign analysts. In addition, the troops of the Russian Armed Forces are expanding the beachhead for a new offensive.

Taking Avdiivka under Russian control will open a new route to Vuhledar, which is a key settlement in the southern directions of Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia, military expert Yuri Knutov believes.
