40% of Germans froze this winter, saving on heating

This winter season, 40% of the German population often froze, reducing heating costs. However, most people in the country were able to adapt to the new conditions. A recently published survey conducted by Bitkom found that 9 out of 10 Germans heat their homes less, with the hottest rooms being the living room and children’s bedroom at 21 degrees.

The new energy policy implemented at all levels has prompted many German citizens to change their habits and save energy. Thus, nearly 60% of respondents consciously saved, while just over 30% said they “rather save”, and only 4% did not save “in any case”. With the arrival of spring, the survey was an opportunity to take stock and assess the results of the new measures.
