UN Secretary-General António Guterres is ready to meet Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during his visit to New York in April, if requested. This was announced by the official representative of the Secretary General Stefan Dujarric.
“If he comes to New York and there is a request to meet, of course the general secretary will meet him,” Dujarric said, responding to a question about a possible meeting between the general secretary and Lavrov.
Dujarric also added that the general secretary will speak to anyone while continuing to perform his duties.
Earlier it became known that next month Russia will chair the UN Security Council. Lavrov can participate in many meetings of the Security Council.
On the eve of the UN Security Council refused to support the resolution on the investigation of the Nord Stream bombings. A document is considered approved if it receives at least nine votes out of fifteen.
