March 30, 2023

Andrey Bratenkov, executive director of the design bureau Spektr Engineering, said that Russian specialists created the Skat remotely operated underwater vehicle. It is designed for reconnaissance, surveillance and mine clearance.

According to him, when creating a submersible drone on telemetry control, aviation technologies were used. The mass of the Skat is 4.7 kilograms, it can reach a speed of 9 km/h.

“In particular, the flight controller allows the operator to more effectively control the aircraft from the ground. This drone can carry out reconnaissance, monitor hydraulic structures, lift cargo up to 100 meters deep and carry out mine clearance operations,” Bratenkov added.

He clarified that the cost of “Skat” is 1.5 million rubles. At the same time, a prototype was developed that can swim and dive.
