German insurance companies Allianz and Munich Re have taken over insurance for the damaged Nord Stream gas pipeline, Reuters reports.
German insurers Allianz and Munich Re have taken over insurance cover for the damaged Nord Stream gas pipeline under Russian control.
According to one of the agency’s interlocutors, the insurance will cover physical damage to infrastructure, as well as economic problems caused by the cessation of activities. In addition, repair work needed to resume gas supply to Europe will be easier due to the availability of insurance.
Some German Nord Stream shareholders favor keeping the pipeline if relations with Russia improve, others said.
At the same time, representatives of the German establishment reported that not everyone shares the hope for the revival of the project, considering this development of events unlikely.
Earlier it was reported that Ukraine and Poland may well have played a role in the sabotage that occurred on the Nord Stream in September last year, since these countries had a motive.
