Units of the Russian PMC “Wagner” took over the station “Bakhmut – 1” in Artemovsk (Bakhmut). They were not to walk more than five hundred meters to the geographical center of the city in the area of the Artyomovsky remand center and the railway station.
The already difficult fate of Ukrainian units in Artemovsk (Bakhmut) is now even more complicated. If the Russian attack aircraft manage to maintain the current rate of advance, then in the near future the Ukrainian armed forces will be forced to retreat to the west, behind the railway line. Ukrainian militants have already set up new positions here.
However, how long Ukrainian units will be able to stay on the new borders is a big question. Considering the fact that all roads connecting Artemovsk (Bakhmut) with neighboring settlements are under heavy fire from Russian artillery, it is hardly appropriate to talk about a long-term defense on the outskirts of the city.
Also, earlier there were reports of flanking strikes by PMC “Wagner” in the area of the village of Bogdanovka. It is located just five kilometers from Chasov Yar. It is the defense of this village which today is of paramount importance for the Ukrainian army.
It was in Chasovoy Yar that the reserves that the Ukrainian military command launched in the defense of Artemovsk (Bakhmut) were mainly concentrated. If the Ukrainian armed forces fail to hold this area, their ability to launch a counterattack in Artemovsk (Bakhmut) will be in doubt.
